Ben Hayes

Hi, I'm Ben. I'm a UX Consultant.

Need to make your website or app feel simple and intuitive?

Focus on the user

UX design usually boils down to one key question: what does the user need here? If we can answer that question, we’re on to a great start. If we can stay focussed on it as we go through the design and build process, then we’ll have a digital product that feels simple and intuitive to use.

I’ve spent hundreds of hours interviewing and testing with users so I know that nothing beats getting feedback from real people.

Start with the big picture and then zoom in

I run workshops to help businesses figure out exactly what they need their product to do. Then I conduct research to understand what the user needs.

In order to plan out complex design journeys so that everything fits together, it helps to start with the big picture. So I start with high level sketches and user flows. Then I drill down into the detail, creating wireframes or clickable prototypes that can be tested to ensure they meet both business and user needs.

I use tools like Axure, Figma, HTML/CSS, Miro and invariably pen and paper to create high level flows, sketches and detailed designs.
